2021 Volvo XC40 vs 2021 Audi Q3: Getting more for your money

2021 Volvo XC40 vs 2021 Audi Q3: Getting more for your money

The Volvo XC40 entered the market a few years ago and has surprised many competitors with its refinement, style, interior space and performance. Offering the most powerful engine in the segment as an option, the XC40 has forced manufacturers like Audi to rethink their offering in the entry-level luxury sport utility vehicle segment.

Therefore, the 2021 Audi Q3 comes back to us this year completely redesigned, but ultimately what Audi has done is create a product that can compete with the new 2021 Volvo XC40. The old Q3 was too small and not powerful enough. The new one approaches the XC40, but the Volvo continues to offer better value, more powerful powertrains and more refinement.

An interior that stands out in the 2021 Volvo XC40

The 2021 Volvo XC40 offers a lot of standard equipment and overall, its interior inspired by more expensive models like the Volvo XC60 and XC90 gives the owner a greater sense of luxury. In particular, there is a standard 12.3-inch digital instrumentation cluster, while such a screen is only offered in the more expensive version of the Audi Q3. The base model has a 10.25-inch screen.

The 2021 Volvo XC40 also offers more standard safety technologies, including a blind spot monitoring system. You have to pay more in the Q3 to have it. The center display in the XC40 is also larger than the base one in the Audi Q3 2021. Finally, interior space is a bit larger in the XC40, which offers a bit more total cargo space.

When comparing engines, both the base engine and the optional engine in the 2021 Audi Q3 are less powerful than those in the 2021 Volvo XC40. The entry-level T4 engine offers 187 horsepower vs. 184 in the Q3, while the XC40's T5 four-cylinder turbo engine offers 250 horsepower versus 228 horsepower in the Q3.

You will therefore enjoy better performance in the 2021 Volvo XC40 versus the 2021 Audi Q3, regardless of the engine. Add to that some more interesting equipment in the Volvo and you have a small luxury SUV that gives you more for less.
