2025 Volvo EX30 vs Genesis GV60: A Look at Two Premium Compact SUVs
April 16 2024,
The 2025 Volvo EX30 and Genesis GV60 are both compelling electric SUVs, but the Volvo EX30 offers several advantages that make it a standout choice for consumers seeking an efficient, stylish, and feature-rich electric vehicle.
Compact Design
The 2025 Volvo EX30 has a more compact and city-friendly design compared to the Genesis GV60. This makes it ideal for urban environments, where parking space and maneuverability are essential. Despite its smaller footprint, the EX30 maintains a spacious interior, ensuring comfort for passengers.
Minimalist Aesthetics
Volvo is known for its clean, Scandinavian-inspired design, and the new 2025 EX30 exemplifies this approach. Its interior is minimalist, with a sleek dashboard and uncluttered controls, creating a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. The Genesis GV60, while luxurious, has a more complex and cluttered interior that may not appeal to those who prefer simplicity.
Safety Features
Volvo has a longstanding reputation for safety, and the 2025 EX30 continues this tradition with a comprehensive suite of safety features. It includes advanced driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist with run-off-road and oncoming lane protection, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection. These features contribute to a safer driving experience, which is a significant advantage over the GV60.
Sustainable Materials
Volvo has committed to sustainability, and the 2025 EX30 reflects this commitment by using environmentally friendly materials in its construction. From recycled plastics to responsibly sourced leather alternatives, the EX30 sets a standard for eco-friendly design. In fact, the new EX30 is the Volvo model with the smallest carbon footprint ever when looking at its whole life cycle. The Genesis GV60 also incorporates some sustainable materials but is not as focused on sustainability as the Volvo.
Cost-Effectiveness
Despite being in the same market segment, the 2025 Volvo EX30 is much more affordable than the Genesis GV60. Indeed, the Swedish SUV starts at $56,450 while the Genesis starts at $72,500. This means that even the most expensive version of the EX30 is more affordable than the entry-level GV60 despite offering almost as much power as the even more expensive Performance trim level (422 vs 429 horsepower).
Impressive Range
While official range figures have not been announced either by the US EPA or by NR Can, the EX30 is expected to offer significantly more range than the Genesis GV60. Indeed, estimates put the range of the Single Motor variant at about 442 kilometres and the Dual Motor version at around 426 kilometres. In contrast, the GV60 can only drive 399 kilometres in its standard version and 378 kilometres in the Performance version.
Overall, the 2025 Volvo EX30 distinguishes itself with a compact design, minimalist aesthetics, strong safety features, a focus on sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. These advantages make it a compelling choice for those seeking an electric SUV that balances style, safety, and environmental responsibility.
