Here are Some of the Technologies that Make the Volvo XC60 so Efficient
March 18 2022,
The Volvo XC60 is one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles of its class due to its multitude of technologies and features that are designed specifically to reduce its appetite in fuel.
Hybrid powertrains only
The Volvo XC60 is one of the only premium SUVs to be only available with hybrid powertrains, which give it a marked advantage in terms of efficiency over its closest competitors. The standard engine option is the B5 mild hybrid system which is composed of a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine and a 48-volt battery and electric motor. This electrification acts as a torque booster, which takes some of the load from the gasoline engine during accelerations and situations where more engine power is required. If you want more performance from your XC60, you don’t need to sacrifice efficiency, since the B6 powertrain is also equipped with the same 48-volt system. The difference between the two options is caused by the addition of a supercharger on the B6’s gasoline engine, which takes the total output from 247 horsepower to 295 horsepower.
An Eco mode
The Volvo XC60 is equipped with many drive modes that can be selected to change the settings of the drivetrain in order to better suit the driver’s preferences. One of the settings is the Eco Mode. Selecting it helps with the fuel economy by making it easier to drive smoothly and efficiently by making the accelerator response less aggressive and by changing the transmission’s shift points. This promotes a more relaxed drive style that burns less fuel by avoiding harsh accelerations when driving away from stop signs and traffic lights. The changes to the transmission further improve the fuel economy by making sure the engine speed is always kept to a minimum by shifting into a higher gear earlier than when driving in comfort mode.
