How the 2020 Volvo XC60 Stands out from its Competition
February 21 2020,
The midsize SUV segment is a pretty packed one, but the 2020 Volvo XC60 manages to stand out from the competition for a number of reasons. It doesn’t just get by on its good looks, but utilizes some pretty impressive engineering, as well as offering up one of the more technology-packed interiors on the market. So, here’s how the 2020 Volvo XC60 stands out from the crowd.
Turbocharged, Supercharged and Hybrid
That’s right, the 2020 Volvo XC60 offers up three different power sources, in one engine. While the base T5 2.0L engine is simply turbocharged (which isn’t really simple at all as it produces a good 250 horsepower and a great drive), the T6 trim adds a supercharger to the turbocharger and increases the horsepower to 315 ponies. And the latest edition to the XC60 lineup is the T8 eAWD trim level that adds yet another power source to the engine with a mild hybrid system that increases power to 400 horsepower and offers up battery-only driving range.
Polestar
Volvo decided it was time they offered up a bit more competition with its German rivals by offering their midsize SUV with a performance package. Polestar, the Swedish automaker’s electric performance division, The 2020 XC60 T8 eAWD Polestar edition adds even more performance to an already peppy engine increasing horsepower to 415 along with 494 lb-ft of torque. Handling, overall drivability and brake performance are also enhanced with the blue Polestar badging on the front and back.
Sensus Connect
While larger entertainment screens are not uncommon in the automotive world these days, the Volvo XC60’s onboard screen stands out from the competition by featuring a 9” vertical touchscreen that works intuitively with your smartphone, and has large, easy-to-use menus that work just like your touchscreen phone or tablet. Learning to use Volvo’s Sensus Touch is like second-nature.
Comfort or Contour Front Seats
There’s no denying that Volvos have some of the most comfortable seats in the entire auto industry. The standard Comfort seats offered in the Volvo XC60 are engineered with Scandinavian design in mind, but that doesn’t mean they are sparse in any way. In fact, they can be almost endlessly adjusted with 6-way power adjustment, multi-directional lumbar support, memory function and heating. There’s even an adjustable massage function for the front seats. And the Contour front seat option just ups the comfort and support anty with adjustable seat cushion extension, as well as increased lateral support.
