How the New Volvo S60 is Ready for Winter

The Volvo S60 is an elegant, dynamic and refined sedan that features a drivetrain that is ready to take on roads throughout Canada. As seasons change and winter settles in, the S60's ability to handle snow, ice, and rain become even more important. Here, we explore how the S60's all-wheel drive and safety features are valuable tools for your driving this winter.

The S60 goes beyond standard all-wheel drive

A more appropriate name for the system is AWD+ since the S60 does much more. Among the vehicle's available drive modes is Constant AWD, which locks in active all-wheel drive on both axles. Normal AWD starts with torque and power in the front wheels. When the system detects slippage in any of the four wheels, it sends torque to the wheels that have the best grip.

Constant AWD not only increases traction, but it sets Electronic Stability Control to Sport mode. This adds more control at low to medium speeds in slippery driving conditions such as ice and snow. AWD is constantly available.

The Volvo S60 adds driver confidence with intelligent safety technology

City Safety is the bundle of technologies that work together to not only help prevent accidents in fair weather, but it can help during winter weather. The system is able to identify and help you avoid various objects, including large animals, cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles. As days become shorter and you more frequently drive in darkness, this system can add a peace of mind.

Volvo's Pilot Assist helps keep the S60 at a safe distance between other vehicles and centered within its lane. Centering works best on highways and major roads that have marked lanes.

The Volvo S60's interior provides a barrier between you and winter

Pre-ventilation and post-climatization features include a fuel-operator heater that you can start remotely so your cabin is at the right temperature when you are ready to go. Combined with the available front and rear heated seats, the temperature all around you is adjustable to where you want it. You can choose between three seat heating levels using the touchscreen on the centre display.

The S60 also features two- or four-zone climate control, offering occupants customized temperature control options.
