Earlier this year Volvo announced that the 2023 Volvo XC90 Recharge would feature a new 18.8-kWh battery. This new battery adds 29 km of range to the XC90 T8 Recharge which means you can drive 58 km on electric power alone.
Moreover, the performance of the XC90 Recharge also significantly improved. A more powerful rear electric motor now delivers 143 hp. When combined with the turbocharged and supercharged engine in the front, you get a combined 455 hp. That is more than what you find in just about any luxury plug-in hybrid SUV.
A base mild-hybrid powertrain
The 2023 Volvo XC90 is also offered with a new B6 powertrain. It uses a 2 L turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, but the power increases to 295 hp and an impressive 310 pound-feet of torque.
