The All-New Volvo EX90 is Redefining Luxury with Sustainable Sophistication
July 14 2023,
The Volvo EX90, Volvo's latest all-electric SUV, sets a new bar in interior design through a strong emphasis on sustainable and premium materials. Volvo's team, led by Lisa Reeves, Head of Interior Design, has redefined luxury by integrating tactile, high-quality, and lightweight materials from natural, recycled, and renewable sources, in alignment with the company’s values and Scandinavian foundations.
One standout element is the revolutionary Nordico upholstery. This textile, made from recycled material like PET bottles and bio-attributed polymer from Swedish and Finnish forests, brings a touch of sustainable elegance to the EX90. The intricacy of its texture, which Lisa Reeves likens to a miniature landscape, underscores the team’s meticulous design efforts.
As an alternative, customers can opt for Nativa-certified wool blend seat finishing. This fabric meets stringent sustainability standards on animal welfare, environmental, and social issues and has earned the Performance Certification from the Woolmark Company.
Moreover, the EX90's cabin features FSC-certified wood panels and carpets partly composed of regenerated polyamide, culminating in an impressive total of almost 50 kg of recycled plastics and bio-based materials.
Interior personalization is another hallmark of the EX90. Customers can choose from seven different "rooms", each embodying a unique mood inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle's close connection to nature. Augmented by SunLike LEDs that illuminate the cabin with near-sunlight, these bespoke interiors showcase the progressive materials in a stunning light.
This innovative and eco-conscious approach aligns with Volvo's overarching goals to offer customers the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. The company has ambitious plans, aiming to be a fully electric car maker by 2030 and a climate-neutral company by 2040. The Volvo EX90 stands as a testimony to these ambitions, exemplifying a vehicle where feel-good meets do-good.
