The Changes Made to the 2022 Volvo XC60

The Volvo X60 is a great compact luxury SUV that boasts unique styling features and technologies that position it at the forefront of the segment. This year, this Volvo gets a few modifications to its exterior, as well as new engines under the hood and an advanced infotainment system that pushes the boundaries of user-friendliness. The XC60 also gets new technologies that aim to improve its already advanced driver assistance systems.

Let’s take a look at a few of these changes.

Advanced engines under the hood of the XC60

For 2022, the Volvo X60 gets a refreshed engine lineup. The B5 and B6 engines replace the T5 and T6 engines and bring hybrid technologies as standard even in the base XC60 models. The B5 engine uses a state of the art four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine mated to a 48-volt hybrid system. It delivers a combined output of 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft for a combined fuel consumption of only 9.4 L/100 km.

The B6 is powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the B5, but a supercharger is added for enhanced performance. The total output ranks in at 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The combined fuel consumption is only 9.9 L/100 km with this engine.

The T8 powertrain remains in both Recharge and Polestar Engineered models. The plug-in hybrid T8 uses the B6 engine and connects it to a set of electric motors that produce a combined output of 400 horsepower in the Recharge model. Need more performance? Try the Polestar Engineered model, which cranks out 415 horsepower.

More style and more tech inside the 2022 XC60

Inside, the Volvo XC60 Volvo gets a new state-of-the-art infotainment thanks to Google. This new Android-based interface offers a voice assistant, unlimited personalization options, and best-in-class navigation via Google Maps and more in-car apps via Google Play. Also, Volvo's City Weave cloth upholstery is now available as an option on the XC60.

Outside, the XC60 gets a few styling changes, including a new grille, a reworked front bumper, updated wheel designs, and more. Volvo has also brought upgrades to the radar, camera, and ultrasonic sensors in order for them to provide more precise data to the XC60’s driver-assistance systems.
