Three features that help the 2021 Volvo XC90 stand out in its segment

The 2021 Volvo XC90 shines in a variety of ways, starting with its incredible design. The XC90 is a stunning work of art on wheels, the kind of vehicle that could only be born from Scandinavian design. There’s a lot to love about the 2021 Volvo XC90, no doubt about it.

It operates in a crowded segment, however, and there are a lot of options on the market for buyers looking for a luxury mid-size SUV. With that in mind, we thought we would take a look at the features that help the 2021 Volvo XC90 stand out from its rivals like the BMW X5, the Mercedes-Benz GLE, the Audi Q7, and the Lexus RX.

    The luxury

There’s an impressive, upscale feeling inside the 2021 Volvo XC90. Step inside and the first thing you will notice is the gear shift lever. Sounds odd? Not at all. Featuring a refined glass finish, the XC90 has been copied by BMW when it comes to this distinctive finish, but the XC90 is still the benchmark. The next thing you will notice is the centre console housing the Sensus infotainment system within a classy vertical touchscreen. This gives the entire interior a very refined, clean look that is easy to use and soothing.

The seats are considered the best in the business in terms of comfort, and the small Swedish flag on the side remind you that there is no other vehicle in the segment like the XC90.

    The number of engine options

There’s an engine for every need in the 2021 Volvo XC90. The base T5 delivers 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, making it one of the most powerful entry-level engine in its class. Next is a 316-horsepower T6 that uses supercharging and turbocharging to deliver remarkable performance. The T6 is offered at a price point where you won’t find many 300-horsepower engines.

Lastly, the available T8 plug-in hybrid delivers useful daily electric driving range in a segment that has yet to offer many PHEV options. Indeed, you won’t find a plugin hybrid in the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7 or Lexus RX.

    The safety

Volvo pioneered many safety features we take for granted today including the seat belt. The XC90 continues to shine like all Volvo vehicles when it comes to safety by offering a range of advanced driving assistance features including a system that can avoid collisions with everything from cars to pedestrians to small animals.
