Three reasons to buy a 2022 Volvo XC60 instead of a 2022 Porsche Macan

The Volvo XC60 has many strengths that the industry raves about, including safety, comfort, advanced powertrains, refined styling, and more. We can't forget about its versatility, which offers convenience for everyone, as well as its unique Scandinavian driving experience no rival can recreate.

Here, we give you three reasons to purchase an XC60 over the Porsche Macan.

The Volvo XC60 is more affordable

First off, the Volvo XC60 is much more affordable than the Porsche Macan. Thanks to a starting price of $48,500, it is much easier to get your hands on an XC60 and everything that comes with it. The Macan, on the other end, has a starting price of $58,500, which is $10,000 more. And with Porsche’s ultra-pricey option catalogue, you won’t get a very well-equipped Macan at that price.

The Volvo XC60 is roomier and more intuitive

The XC60 also has more cargo space. Thanks to 613 litres of space behind the rear seats, you can bring along much more in the XC60 than you can with the Macan, which only has 488 litres. That’s quite the difference.

The Porsche Macan has a notoriously unintuitive infotainment system that requires many menus to execute simple tasks. Volvo’s infotainment system, on the other hand, is large and much easier to use.

The Volvo XC60 offers more efficiency

The XC60 offers a great choice of powertrains. The base XC60 Momentum features the T5 engine, a 2.0-litre that generates 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Volvo's T6 powertrain is also available and it brings 316 horsepower. The T6 only uses 11,7 L/100 km in the city and 8,6 L/100 km on the highway. The similar powertrain in the Macan S uses up to 13,5 L/100 km and 10.5 L/100 km.

The XC60 also offers a hybrid powertrain, the XC60 Recharge. It delivers 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque, which is similar to the Macan GTS in terms of power, but with much more torque. The 9.3 L/100 km combined fuel efficiency rating gives this model the best horsepower/consumption ratio and enables the XC60 to drive 27 kilometres without using a single drop of fuel. The Macan doesn’t have a PHEV model.
