The 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge stays mostly the same, but some key changes make it an even more interesting choice in its segment for the new model year.
An improved range
The 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge features more range than before due to changes in the drive control software, the addition of a heat pump and a new app on the Google based infotainment system. The software changes allow for a more efficient use of electricity from the dual motor drivetrain in order to develop the same output with lower electrical draw and the heat pump limits the range loss that occurs in the winter due to its ability to heat the cabin with less power than a traditional heater such as the one fitted to the previous model. The Range Assistant app is also a very good tool that helps you maximise the energy stored in the battery as well as the charging sessions. Via this app, you can program your expected departure times in order to have to car preheat its battery and cabin while still connected to the charger in order to keep the battery full when you set off. Another feature of this app is that it will preheat the battery before you reach a destination on the navigation system in order to be able to charge at the optimal speed throughout the charging session.
A new entry level version
The 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge gains a new trim level that acts as the entry level model and the cheapest fully electric Volvo vehicle on sale. Despite being equipped with many standard features that often require extra costs in competing models, such as the power tailgate, the heated seats and the wireless phone charging mat, the Core model is $5,000 cheaper than last year’s base model. Two other trim levels add many luxury features like the panoramic moonroof, the 360-degree camera system and the heated steering wheel.
