    Why choose a 2024 Volvo XC90?

The recently launched 2025 Volvo EX90 electric luxury SUV will soon become the new top-of-the line product offered by Volvo, but we shouldn’t forget about the XC90, which will continue to be a favourite of families looking for a safe, comfortable, and luxurious premium SUV. Here are a few if its advantages.

Comfort for up to seven passengers

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is a large three-row SUV that offers enough interior space for everyone on board, even when all seats are occupied. This makes for more enjoyable road trips with the family and a more comfortable driving experience. In addition, the XC90’s vast cargo compartment makes it easy to transport anything you might need, with 357 litres of space behind the third row, 1,008 litres behind the second row, and up to 1,856 litres with all of the rear seats folded down. Of course, space is not the only way in which the XC90 makes you more comfortable, as it benefits from ergonomically designed seats, a four-zone automatic climate control system, an air purifier, and heated front seats as standard equipment in every model. Options include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and sunshades in the rear doors, to name only a few. An optional adaptive air suspension also helps smooth out the ride.

The safety you expect from Volvo

Of course, the 2024 Volvo XC90 is a very safe SUV since it benefits from all of the latest technologies and the most important safety advances, many of which were pioneered by Volvo itself many years ago. An example of this is the Whiplash protection system, a seating technology that helps prevent neck injuries in case of rear-end collision. Other standard safety features on the XC90 include the advanced forward collision warning system with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist with oncoming lane mitigation, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Also included as standard are the adaptive cruise control and the Pilot Assist system, which combines lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control to provide a semi-autonomous driving experience.

A choice of two powerful and efficient powertrains

The 2024 Volvo XC90 continues to offer two very advanced electrified powertrains that provide a generous power output and an impressive level of fuel efficiency. The standard powertrain is called B6 and it consists of a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a small electric motor. This mild-hybrid setup provides a boost of torque while accelerating and makes it possible for the gasoline engine to turn off more readily at stop lights and intersections in order to save fuel. The result is an output of 295 horsepower and an average fuel consumption of only 9.8 L/100 km.

The other powertrain available for the 2024 XC90 is the T8 plug-in hybrid setup that powers the XC90 Recharge model. This version uses a larger battery and more powerful electric motors in combination with the same turbocharged 2.0L engine and automatic transmission to deliver a system output of 455 horsepower and an all-electric range of up to 53 kilometres. This electric range is enough for most Canadian drivers to be able to complete their entire daily commutes on electricity alone, keeping the gas tank full for weekend escapades and family road trips.
